Anansi, my new friend...

I saw it on display.. It was one of a kind, so i kept following it with my eyes everytime they change its place lest someone else would get it before me.. it was the end of the month and the financials were rough, so i didnt have what it takes to make it all mine.. Duke & Meyo wanted to get it to me but proudly i refused and waited....

Finally, it is mine..... Neil Gaiman's "Anansi Boys", the one copy that was in Virgin.. a lovely dark blue hardcover...

To get an idea of how i like this book, i even loved the dedication.. am in Chapter 3 now and it keeps getting better :)

I will only quote the dedication here:

"You know how it is, you pick up a book, flip to the dedication, and find that, once again, the author has dedicated a book to someone else and not to you.
Not this time.
Because we haven't yet met/have only a glancing acquaintance/are just crazy about each other/haven't seen each other in much too long/are in some way related/will never meet, but will, I trust, despite that, always think fondly of each other...
This one's for you.
With you know what, and you probably know why."

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! my patience has paid off... Neil has finally dedicated a book for *me*!

"With you know what, and you probably know why." for me was "With eternal awe and admiration, because you're worth it" ("Because am worth it" like the L'Oreal beauty campaign)

searching on google, i found MANY ppl who blogged the fact that they liked this particular dedication because it doesnt go like "this is for the readers or the fans or whatever"..

I would luv to attend a book signing once for some writer i like... please?

Lovely dedication fe3lan. This guy is so creative! I think that will be next on my list after "The Map of Love"...which, by the way, doesn't seem like it's ever going to end :)

Why was I not able to comment on the last post? There was no "comments" link...

LOOOOL... (as we agreed, thats different than "lol" or "LOL")

1. The Map of Love took ages fe3lan.. but get to its end ba2a..

2. The last post had comments disable because -at the time- i didnt want any comments, but since you took the course with me and it was the time we both decided we want to minor in philosophy (which we didnt), then you are allowed -as a workaround- to comment on it here... what do u think abt it?

3. I can delete the last 2 comments you know :P but i wont, to show my good will..

Now let's get the facts right here. Again, It is the Duke & the Duke alone, not the Duke & Duchess who offered to get you the book. Not that I don't like to share credit, It's just a simple fact. Maybe the Duchess supported the claim, but the original offer, much like the original sin, or the original SYN, came from the Duke.

Funny, I looked for it last friday when i was in Virgin, and when i found it missing was going to tell you if you want me to get it for you and ship to a friend who's coming from the US in April, but I found where did that copy go

I am very thoughtful. I think I need to change.

Well I probably shouldn't say how I was surprised when I found 8 comments in no time....

And anyone who spent more than 5 minutes chatting with you online ya Nag probably knows how lol, LOL, and LOOOL are all different and what each means :P

Duke, I think the assumed shared credit is something to do with couples in general. A person who sees the glass half full will probably take this to mean how unseparable you and the duchess are and how people view you as one.

A person who sees the glass half empty though will bemoan the shared credit and lack of individual presence :P

I trust darkness, by nature, sees the glass half empty :)

I guess the Darkness sees the cup empty, Period:D

...and I knew Nag for a few good years now, and I guess collectively we have done like 100 hours of chating, but i don't really know the difference between "lol", "LOL" and "LOOOOL"!!
I can guess the difference, but I don't "Know" the difference.

As for you profound argument about the unity of couples. Hmmm. I don't know, I guess we are going to have to wait and see how would nag express herself when the Duchess and the duchess alone gets her a present or does something nice for her. Would I still get a share of the spoils, or no:D:D

Well, actually now that I think about it. The darkness should never see the cup in the first place :D
